“Yet in their absence I seemed to love them so much” (Crime and Punishment, Section 3 Chapter 3) is related to Dostoevsky’s other famous quote from BK – “Love in action is a harsh and dreadful thing compared with the love of dreams.” I find these quotes resoundingly true. I live in a dream, but mustn’t we all live in a dream to guide our actions? Be careful that my dream not become the whole… I must face the harsh and dreadful.
